But if you see a substance below an ingredient that can't be more than 1% in the formula, you can guess that ingredient's concentration. The exception is when you get to the 1% mark, they aren't required to be in order. And you can guess looking at the ingredients. The items in the Ingredient List appear always in order (the ingredient with higher concentration will be listed first and so on). Unless you email the brand and ask directly you can only assume how much it is. Regardless, I have used TO's pure squalane as a facial oil for years without issue, so thankfully I don't think it's that! My understanding was that squal ane would not cause acne due to the hydrogenation processing it goes through compared to squal ene. Sidenote and this may be a bit of a quibble, but the TO products use squalane, not squalene. I restocked on ceramides and a few other favorites in the healing/hydrating realm, so maybe I can try the retinol formula 1-2x a week and see how that goes. The pattern on my forehead hasn't changed so I wonder if it's the original purge that hasn't worked its way out of the skin yet. But the forehead was drying out hard (my skin tends to be sensitive and dehydrated and I was out of my ceramide cream), so I switched my face to the ester for the last 4-6 weeks. I actually have one of their retinol formulations for my décolletage, and I tried that on my face first for a few weeks, which originally kicked off the purge.
